Why I Write Erotica

An introduction to Kink: Volume 2

On the surface, what follows could be taken merely as smut, and rightly so, I have written these poems purposefully to arouse you, and I do so hope to be successful in that endeavour.

I want to get you going.
I want to get you off.
I want you to want more.

I want you to so thoroughly enjoy what you read here that you cannot help but share the love with others.

But beyond that, when you put this book down, when you’re well and truly spent, I also want to leave you feeling totally accepted.

As long as you have informed and enthusiastic consent, I won’t yuck on your yum. In fact, I will actively encourage it. The simple truth is that the more that you lean into your kinks, the happier you will be. And I’m not just talking about in the bedroom. No, most of the real pleasure will arise in your ‘vanilla’ life. You will feel more empowered, you will have more confidence, and you will be well and truly able to say no when something crosses a hard limit.

But beyond all of that will sprout a level of self-love so deep that joy will resonate from your very core and proliferate into all aspects of your existence. Perhaps it seems a bit rich to start a book of erotic poetry with such lofty ideas (enlightenment kink anyone?) but I truly think it’s on the mark. Countless conversations with members of the community have confirmed, time and time again, that the exploration of kink, BDSM, polyamory, and other fun things can be spiritually liberating - or at least be super informative and certainly cathartic. People are using it to connect, to form communities, and to reclaim their pasts and heal from trauma - if you know, you know.

Regardless, people across all demographics, identities, sexualities, nationalities, religions, and politics resonate with my poetry, so if you find yourself enjoying something, know that you are not alone in that enjoyment. You are in good company with this community. One that, in my experience, is quite welcoming, respectful, and protective. Provided you treat others similarly, you are welcome.

I hope that my poetry can help you to connect with your inner freak and perhaps even unlock a few new kinks along the way.
