My Annual F*ck Christmas Podcast Episode | Ep 259

It’s time once again for my annual Fuck Christmas podcast.

For some, the festive season is the opposite of fun - full of triggers and trauma and overwhelm and the forced obligation to spend time with the people and in places that caused you the most pain.

It is a time when substance abuse, self harm and suicide significantly rise.

It is a time we’re loneliness amplified and that all two familiar mask must be put back on in order to save face, and ultimately to save yourself.

In this episode, I talk about the importance of saying no when you need to, and yes when you want to.

I share a depth of the impact of my own trauma, and aspects that come with healing - particularly around Christmas. I share a story of attempting to explain my past and my pain - only to have it thrown back at myself as I was victim blamed, and thus no longer feeling safe around that person - which is brought up once again at this time of year.

This is not an easy episode, and I want to give a massive trigger warning.

But if you’ve read this far, and if you follow me, the episode will probably bring some solace or at least will help you to not feel so alone with the darkness this seems to get amplified by Santa’s sleigh.

Eliminate Excess Suffering By Identifying 'The Second Arrow' | Ep 239

Eliminate Excess Suffering By Identifying 'The Second Arrow' | Ep 239

Life will shoot us with the first arrow - these are real injuries, setbacks, losses and pain.

But the greater cause of our suffering comes form ‘the second arrow’ - the fear, anxieties, ruminations, and other internal mechanisations that we dwell upon.

In this episode I discuss the concept of the second arrow, as well as how we can use it to eliminate significant amounts of excess (and useless) suffering.

Finding Purpose & Saving Lives | Ep 216

In this episode I talk about my approach to my online work, as well as the mental processors that have been holding me back.

I release everything I do, for free, because I don’t want money to be a barrier for life saving advice.

I moved out of home at 16. Back then I couldn’t afford food, let alone a book or therapy. So now I want to ensure that people who are in a similar situation to me have access to the advice, techniques, tools and resources that helped me to survive.

136: Why it Hurts So Much To Heal

136: Why it Hurts So Much To Heal

The only way to truly heal is to embrace your past. To acknowledge it, work through it, and accept to it. Ignoring it won’t help, and hoping it will go away is just wishful thinking.

This is a hard process, and one that must be repeated often. But the result are worth it.

In this episode I share how writing therapy has helped me to relieve some of the inner pressure. I cover some of the problems and pitfalls of using writing therapy to address trauma. I also share two pieces of writing therapy, the poem ‘Flash Back’, as well as a short essay ‘What is a dream?’.

31: On Writing Therapy For Mental Health

Writing therapy is one of the core components of my ongoing mental health plan. When I feel a build of of mental pressure - I write!

The page listens and does not judge, and therefore you can tell it anything without fear. Writing enables me to collect, organise and express my thoughts. By writing them down, I am able to detach from them and let them go.
